About Wake County Taxpayers Association (WCTA)
The Wake County Taxpayers’ Association (WCTA) is a non-partisan, all-volunteer organization whose purpose is to promote efficient and responsive government at all levels of government.
We monitor the use of taxes and initiate action to reduce excessive taxation, eliminate wasteful government spending, and encourage the common sense use of taxes revenues.
Informing taxpayers is a key part of our strategy and we continue to work to get volunteers to act as watchdogs on the government and collecting the information we need to fulfill our commitment to you.
Please get involved and encourage your friends to do the same. The real question is –Are we getting our monies worth out of government? Remember when government WASTE a dollar it can’t be spent for what’s really needed!!
We, the Wake County Taxpayers Association (WCTA), welcome you to our website and hope you will take time to read the documents it contains. We have had a strong presence in our community over more than a decade and have been instrumental in not only defeating issues and projects we consider wasteful or unnecessary, but, we have participated in community commissions and advisory committees where our point of view is respected and often accepted.
We, the Wake County Taxpayers Association (WCTA), are particularly concerned about effective education spending as well as the need for high performing students in our schools. The performance of our schools is improving dramatically and the financial stewardship is also getting better. But, there is still a long way to go. We must do better for the children.
We, the Wake County Taxpayers Association (WCTA), have also opposed efforts to spend millions of dollars on public arenas, sports facilities and meeting centers. While we have not won all of campaigns, we have in the process become a group to be considered when such special interest projects are proposed.
In the last ten years, we, the Wake County Taxpayers Association (WCTA), have been successful in keeping tax growth from happening or limited it to a small amount in most jurisdictions. We expect to continue this effort and invite you to join us. You will find membership information elsewhere on this website.
